We Have a Vision

Meet our President

I give God all the glory and praise for allowing me to serve as President of the Las Amigas Seat Pleasant Chapter Incorporated once again.  For the next two years I pray that the pandemic stays at bay and allows our sisterhood to thrive and grow as it desires.

God has allowed two dynamic ladies to lead our National Organization and to Him we are grateful.  President Agatha Grimes and Vice President Velma Greene are encouraging all chapters to move forward, to think out-side the box, to increase membership, to fellowship and show goodwill for persons in need.

As President with the assistance of our Vice President, Willa Majors-Johnson, our goal is to follow the lead of our National President and Vice President; to encourage growth in our chapter, to serve others, to fellowship with other chapters and organizations and to enjoy the company of our sisters.

The late Dora R. Mason and the late Mary Q. Moore, the founder and co-founder of Las Amigas, Incorporated had a vision to enhance the quality of life for sisters and promote general improvement of their community, encourage personal and professional growth and foster a close relationship among the sisterhood.

As President of Las Amigas Seat Pleasant Chapter Incorporated, I plan to continue this legacy for the next two years.

Our National Organization, Las Amigas, Incorporated, was organized in Charlotte N.C. in 1957 by Dora R. Mason and Mary Q. Moore. Since that time twenty-six Chapters were established across the states from North Carolina  to Ohio.  Seat Pleasant is one of the twenty-six Chapters and is located in Maryland.

Seat Pleasant Chapter of Las Amigas, Incorporated was organized in December, 1973 by the late Lona Florence. In October, 1974 Seat Pleasant Chapter was installed at the Inter Council meeting hosted by the Forestville, Maryland Chapter at the International Inn, Washington, D.C.  Hampton-Newport News was the sponsoring chapter.  Lona Florence was Seat Pleasant Chapter’s first President and she served three terms.
